Magicard Driver "Printer not connected" Checklikst

NOTE! Before proceeding with the instructions below, you MUST be logged onto the PC with local admin rights

(computer administrator)

Ensure the latest driver is installed ( currently V2.0.43.0) https://support.magicard.com/solution/driver/


USB Hub / Controller Power Management;

Go to Device Manager (you must have local admin rights).

Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

On each item which is a USB hub, or USB Hub controller;

Double-click on it.

If it has a Power Management tab, select it. If not, ignore and move on through the list.

Un-tick the box next to ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’

Do this for all items which have a power management tab.

User Permissions (Security tab);

In Devices & Printers, right-click on << Magicard Printer Model >> (V2) Choose Printer Properties.

Please check the following;

Printer Properties -> Security

Ensure all user groups (including Everyone, Creator / Owner, etc.) have the following permissions;

Print

Manage Printer

Manage Documents

(TIP – only click Apply at the end rather than for each group individually)

Apply all changes.

Next, check the following;

Printer Properties -> Ports

Ensure bidirectional support is ticked (this is needed by the status monitor)

Once the above is OK.

If the bidirectional support doesn’t ‘stick’ (you go back into Printer Properties -> Ports and it is un-ticked again);

Restart the spooler service.

Run Command Prompt (CMD) as admin,

Type the following commands;

net stop spooler

net start spooler

Try again to set the bidirectional support tick box in Printer Properties → Ports.

It should ‘stick’ this time!

Check the printer has Status;

Printing Preferences -> Printer Status

There should be no further issues with normal User accounts once the above settings have been made.
