IDP Smart 50 Lamination tips for end user

Modified on Wed, 8 Apr, 2020 at 11:50 AM

If you are having issues with your Smart Laminator please try the following things.

1. Make sure the laminate film has not become unwound , the supply spool (larger unused  part when new) should be tightly wound onto the spool.

Sometimes it may come unwound and loose if it was removed at some point.

2. Make sure the laminator is really clean in the follow areas using alcohol cleaning cards, pads or swabs (green arrows.) and blow out with air duster (blue arrows)

Once cleaned re-try printing.

If you still do not get a good quality output try adjusting the lamination settings in the driver.

Ensure you do the following to get to the settings.

1. Search Control Panel in Windows and go to the Control Panel folder.

2. Select Devices and Printers.

3. Right click the ‘IDP Smart 50L Card Printer’ and select ‘Printer properties’. Then Click the ‘Printing Preferences’ button on the first page that appears.

4. You can the select the Laminator tab as per below. Try increasing the temperature in units of 5 and reprinting to see if you get a better result.

Sometimes you may need to print a few cards for the laminate to settle into print 5 cards in a row.
