Windows 10 Driver Issues

Modified on Tue, 6 Oct, 2020 at 10:15 AM

Sometimes on Windows 10 some of the advanced features of the driver needed for printhead replacements and other adjustments don't work citing a communication error.

A note from Peter Alpmann from PE2M

"Since one of the recent Windows 10 updates, the Win10 driver (CTC-940 driver v 1 8 3 12) seems to have a temper.

There seems to be an issue with some Windows 10 environments, where the driver does not install completely.

Usually, it works if you just install and run the CTC-940 driver 1 8 0 09b Patch.

Try that first and if that does not work, the fix for this is:

Uninstall the Ciaat driver.

Install

CTC-940 driver 1 8 0 09b

(connect printer only after driver is installed)

Then install

CTC-940 driver 1 8 0 09b Patch

Then uninstall the Ciaat driver once again

Then install

CTC-940 driver v 1 8 3 12

(while printer is connected)

Sometimes this has to be done several times even.

You will find these drivers here: http://files.deca.de/ciaat/Driver/

Sorry about the hassle.

Another things is that, when handling several printers on one PC, you cannot just switch between the printers by just exchanging the cables. The printers need to be switched off, then reconnected, and then switched on again. Every time you connect a printer, a new instance is created."
