How to select dual sided printing on a Magicard printer on Mac OS

Modified on Fri, 06 Oct 2023 at 03:53 PM

The below screenshots use a Magicard 600 printer for reference, but the steps should be replicable on any Mac compatible Magicard printer.

The first step is to click the printing icon in Cardpresso

This will open up a new menu where we will see an option for printing the front and back of the design, make sure you tick both and click ‘Save’.

Unfortunately, we are not done there however. This will print out the front and back of your design, but it will do so on 2 separate cards.

The next step is to click on ‘Advanced options' from the same screen, which will open up your printers driver options

In the new window, look for ‘Printer options’ and under printer options should be ‘Printer features’ If you don’t see printer features, just click on ‘Printer options’ to expand the list and you should now see it.

Next to ‘Printer features’ click the icon of an ‘I’ in a circle to open the advanced features:

In this window we will see an option named ‘Feature sets’ click on this to get an expanded list:

We want to select ‘Printer’. Doing so will give us an option called ‘Duplex printing’ It will likely be set to ‘Front only’ by default, if you click it and select ‘Front and back’, duplex printing should now be possible.

If you try and print now, however, you will print dual sided just fine, but the back will be in black and white.

The last step is to set the dual-sided printing to colour on both sides.

To do this we want to be on the same screen and we want to click on ‘Feature sets’ again, however this time, instead of clicking ‘Printer’ we want to click ‘Card Back’ and from the list of options this gives us, select the very first option ‘Card Back Colour Format’ and change this to a colour option either YMCK or YMCKK.

And finally, we’re done, make sure to click save before you exit any of the screens, and try to print, you should be able to print both sides just fine now.
